TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis football team Tuesday night slumped to a surprise defeat against Sepasi.
The Iranian giant, which defeated Sanat Naft in the opening match of the Iran Professional League last week, lost to Shiraz based team 3-2 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Amirhossein Feshangchi gave the host a lead in the 15th minute.
Abbas Mohammad-Rezaei equalized the match six minutes into the second half.
Sepasi midfielder Reza Haghighi converted a penalty kick in the 75th minute after his teammate was brought down by Persepolis defender Mohsen Bengar.
Persepolis put under pressure Sepasi to equalize the match but Mehdi Nazari put the ball back of the Persepolis net on the counter attack in the 90th minute.
Substitute Mohammad Ghazi pulled a goal back for Persepolis in the added time.
Elsewhere, Rah Ahan beat newly-promoted Gahar 3-1 at the Ekbatan Stadium.
