TEHRANTIMES - Esteghlal goalkeeper Mehdi Rahmati will wear the team’s armband in the 12th edition of the Iran Professional League (IPL).

Esteghlal coach Amir Ghalenoei said on Tuesday that newly-signed Javad Nekounam had been earmarked as the Esteghlal captain but he has changed his mind.Now, Rahmati is Esteghlal captain.  

“Our team has one captain and it his name is Esteghlal. All of us must do our best to see the team on top,” Ghalenoei said.

Esteghlal is scheduled to play Saipa on Wednesday in the 2nd week of the IPL.
