TEHRANTIMES - Osasuna has reached an agreement with Javad Nekounam to release the Iranian midfielder, Diario de Noticias de Navarra reported.

Nekounam’s agent Reza Fazeli and Osasuna’s sporting director Angel Martin Gonzalez met together in Madrid on Friday.

Osasuna, according to the Spanish site, will receive nothing from his buy-out clause (2.5 million euros).

Iranian giant Esteghlal already announced that Nekounam would sign a contract with the team on Sunday.

“Following negotiations with Nekounam, the player is ready to join Esteghlal and he will pen a contract with us on Sunday,” Esteghlal's general manager Ali Fatollahzadeh told Tehran Times.

Qatari football club Al Gharafa has been interested in signing Nekounam but it appears they want to hire Australian midfielder Mark Bresciano instead.
