Khaleejtimes - Al Wasl have decided not to renew the contract of their three foreign players Juan Manuel Olivera, Juan Ignacio Mercier and Mohammad Reza Khalatbari.

The three were highly tipped to remain with Al Wasl for the new season but the club management decided against retaining them. Al Wasl are on the look out for three foreign players as well as local players.

Uruguay forward Olivera had joined from CA Penarol and finished fourth in the goal scorers list in the Etisalat UAE Pro-League with 13 goals. Argentine midfielder Mercier had moved from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr on a free transfer. Iranian forward Mohammad Reza Khalatbari had joined from Qatari club Al Gharafa. Al Wasl had handed midfielder Mariano Donda a new two-year deal a couple of days ago.

Maradona had recommended contract extensions of Juan Ignacio Mercier and Iran’s Mohammed Reza Khalatbari to the club, prior to going on vacation.

Al Wasl coach Diego Maradona was against the renewal of Donda’s contract but the new club management were keen to hold on to the Argentine.

It is also being said that Maradona is interested in securing the services of Argentine midfielder Martin Rolle. Rolle plays for Club Olimpo in Argentina.
