TEHRANTIMES - Esteghlal football club has started negotiations with Osasuna midfielder Javad Nekounam.

Esteghlal general manager Ali Fatollahzadeh had already said they are going to sign a contract with the Iranian football skipper.

A source close to Esteghlal club said two parties have reached an agreement and the Blues are waiting for the Nekounam’s final decision.

The 32-year-old midfielder joined Osasuna in 2006 and has played 144 times for the Spanish team and scored 24 goals.

Nekounam was also a target for Turkey’s giants Besiktas last season.
