TEHRANTIMES - Mustafa Denizli paid tribute to the Persepolis fans and apologized to them since he could not continue his job in the Iranian football team.

Mustafa Denizli, 62, was forced to leave Persepolis due to personal problems.

In his message published on the Persepolis site on Monday, he wrote: “First, I have to apologize to the Persepolis fans since I couldn’t take charge of their team in the new season. I have to thank all fans because they supported me during the time I was there.”

“Persepolis is a big club and the team’s fans will be forever in my heart. I wish the best to all former and newly-signed players. Hopefully, Persepolis wins consecutive titles over the coming years,” he added.

Denizli telephoned Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian on Saturday to announce his resignation. He had taken charge of the team in December on an 18-month contract.
