TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis skipper Ali Karimi says he will quit the Tehran-based football team.

Karimi’s contract has expired and the Persepolis officials had already said that they would convince the player to extend his deal.

“No, I’m not going to stay. I opened negotiation with Mr. Ruyanian (Persepolis general manager) but we didn’t reach an agreement. I offered them to strengthen the team by signing some new players but they didn’t care,” Karimi said on Tuesday after Iran–Qatar match in the 2014 World Cup qualifier at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

The 34-year-old joined Persepolis last season and scored 12 goals for the Iranian giant in 28 games.
