TehranTimes - Iran dropped one place in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Wednesday.
The Persians are 52 in the world and fourth in Asia, with 575 points. Australia remains on top among the Asian teams with 862 points, followed by Japan (753) and South Korea (746).
In comparison to last month, there were only a few changes to the latest edition of the FIFA ranking. In many countries, the national championships are drawing to a close, which explains the small number of matches played at international level: only eight, all of which were friendlies, unfolded over the past month.
Spain continues to top the global ladder ahead of Germany and Uruguay, followed by the Netherlands and Portugal. The only change in the top 30 has been Argentina’s ousting of Denmark to occupy ninth place.
The June edition will undoubtedly bring more movement with it, as friendlies are played in Europe to warm up for UEFA EURO 2012 and another batch of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazi qualifiers influence the calculations.
