TEHRANTIMES - The Iran Football Federation has disallowed foreign goalkeepers to play in the country’s professional league and its first division for the next season.

The ban is to support the National Production and Supporting Iranian Labor and Capital, a title which Ayatollah Khamenei has assigned to this calendar year, director of League organization, Gholamreza Behravan said.

Persepolis general manager, Mohammad Ruyanian, criticized the rule. He said: “The head coach of the Iran national team, which is symbol of our country, is a Portuguese. In my opinion, football officials should observe the important matters.”
