PFDC - AACHEN, Mehdi Mahdavikia, Ali Karimi, Vahid Hashemian and last but not least Ali Daei. All mentioned players left behind an image of hard-working and gifted Iranian legionnaires in Germany, who most certainly paved the way for upcoming promising Iranian players in the German Bundesliga. A possible bearer of hope for Team Melli and its coach Carlos Queiroz is wearing the yellow-black jersey of the former German Bundesliga side Alemannia Aachen, Shervin Radjabali-Fardi.

The 20-year-old half-Iranian and half-German leftback made his way through Hertha BSC's several youth teams until he celebrated his debut for Hertha's senior team on July 17, 2008 in a UEFA CUP (Europa League) qualifying match against Nistru Otaci.

At the age of 17, Radjabali-Fardi was remarkably the youngest player ever to wear Hertha's jersey in a professional match in 2008.

Although being praised as a gifted talent, the 20-year-old defender, who can also be used as a rightback as well as a left midfielder, had to spend most of the time at the bench and was therefore, after two and a half years of unsuccessfulness, transferred to German 2nd Bundesliga side Alemannia Aachen on loan (until Summer 2012) during the winter transfer period 2011.

Radjabali-Fardi, who also went through several German youth national teams, knew how to impress his coaching staff, which resulted in 36 appearances so far.

He also scored twice for bottom club Alemannia Aachen, who are currently on 18th position and are fighting against relegation with only two more matches to go and 5 points difference to the staying up.

The U21 German national team player also holds the Iranian citizenship beside his German.

Alemannia Aachen's Iranian-German youngster was unluckily injured during a 2nd German Bundesliga match against VfL Bochum, which resulted in a cruciate ligament rupture. Radjabali-Fardi will be out for at least 6 months.

Name: Shervin RADJABALI-FARDI
DOB (age): MAY 17, 1991 (20)
Position: Leftback
Current Club: Alemannia Aachen (on loan/Hertha BSC Berlin)
Height: 175 cm
Market Value: 750.000 € *

Team Melli future probability: 50% - Carlos Queiroz will be well-advised to keep an eye on this promising player as neither German national team coach Joachim Löw will count on him in the near future nor will Radjabali-Fardi be averted to an invitation to the Iranian football national team with the international stage within his reach in view of the upcoming World Cup 2014 in Brazil. An invitation would also make sense, because the Iranian back four has always lacked a strong leftback, although it is yet unkown, if Radjabali-Fardi fully recovers from a cruciate ligament rupture in time. Nonetheless, German discipline and experience would heal at least one of many wounds of the Iranian defense.
