Soccerway - Osasuna's Masoud Shojaei is hopeful of playing a part in Iran's 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign after returning from a foot inury.

The 27-year-old hasn't played since April last year due to the complicated injury which has required four surgeries to get right.

Shojaei returned to club training this week, but was only able to do light jogging and was not involved with the main session alongside team-mates.

The Iranian will return to full training by the end of the season as he continues to recover from the long-term problem, but is hopeful of being part of his nation's opening final round world Cup qualifiers.

"I could not wait to play in La Liga. I will start running within two weeks and I think I can return to pitch in June," Shojaei told the Tehran Times.

Iran play Uzbekistan and Qatar in early June in their opening fourth round 2014 World Cup qualifiers, while their next match is against Lebanon in September.
