Mustafa Denizli

TEHRAN - Mustafa Denizli has said he is considering about becoming new coach of Persepolis football team but has not yet made a decision.

Hamid Estili stepped down as the coach of Persepolis after Esteghlal knocked the team out of Iran’s Hazfi Cup on Friday.

Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian wants to hire a big coach.

He negotiated with former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson but the Swede rejected the team’s offer.

Luka Bonacic and former Bayer Leverkusen coach Klaus Toppmoller are among the candidates.

The 61-year-old Turk, who had already refused Tehran-based popular club’s offer in September, has recently announced he wants to return to the green fields for the last time.

“I'd like to return to Iran to coach Persepolis since I have good memories at Persepolis but my father in-law is in poor health and I have to stay in Turkey,” Denizli was quoted as saying by IRNA in Ankara on Tuesday.

Denizli has worked in Persepolis football team in 2006-07 season but has never won a cup in the most popular team.
