Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian and former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson met together on Wednesday in Kish Island, located south of Iran.

Ruyanian and Eriksson discussed the possibility of taking over the Tehran based football team.

The 63-year-old Swede has been offered to coach Iran’s struggling football club with a contract worth one million pounds.

Ruyanian had already said: “We are going to sign a big coach. We have negotiated with Sven Goran Eriksson.”

Eriksson has worked in six countries so far. He began his coaching career with two Scandinavian teams, then left his homeland to become Portugal’s Benfica coach.

Eriksson led Roma, Fiorentina, Lazio and Sampdoria of Italy. But he disappointed at Manchester City and Notts County and was fired by Leicester City last month.

Eriksson has also coached Mexico and Ivory Coast.
