MNA - Persepolis football team edged past Saipa thanks to a first-half goal from Maziar Zare on Tuesday.

Persepolis beat Saipa 1-0 in the 14th round of the Iran Professional League (IPL) in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in front of about 500 spectators.

Persepolis Mehrdad Oladi was brought down into Saipa penalty area seven minutes into the match but he failed to convert his penalty kick.

Referee Mohsen Ghahremani showed Saipa penalty kick once again in the 40th minute and Maziar Zare put the Reds into the lead.

Persepolis moved up to 7th in the IPL standings table while Saipa is 13th.

Damash was held to a 1-1 draw by Zob Ahan in Rasht. Esmaeil Farhadi scored for the visiting team two minutes before the break and Milad Zeniedpour equalized the match in the 58th minute.
