Persepolis tied with its archrival Esteghlal 2-2 in Tehran derby. The Iranian giant team had already defeated Nacional of Paraguay 1-0 while Esteghlal lost to the South American team 1-0.
Persepolis striker Amir-Hossein Feshangchi was brought down by Hamid Azizzadeh in penalty area six minutes into the match and Hadi Norouzi gave Persepolis a lead from a penalty kick.
Arash Borhani equalized the match with a header in the 33rd minute.
Norouzi put Persepolis ahead again when he opened Esteghlal goal from the close-range two minutes after interval.
Esteghlal put Persepolis under pressure afterward but its strikers failed to score. Hanif Omranzadeh eventually leveled the match in the 70th minute, putting the ball into back of the Persepolis net with a header.
Persepolis defender Alireza Mohammad was sent off by referee Saeid Mozaffarizadeh in the 79th minute after receiving his second yellow card.
Persepolis Hadi Norouzi was selected as the Man of the Match.
