According to IRNA, Carlos Quiroz appreciating the presence of the Iranian football fans at Azadi Sports Complex, added in his press conference after the game, “I dedicate this victory to Qassem Haddadifar, who got hurt in the course of this game, and I hope he would recover and join the national team as soon a possible.”
Pointing out that the Iranian players defeated their competitor in the course of a fair game which the players really enjoyed, he reiterated, “The Indonesian side was quite a harmonized team, but the Iranian players with their good and exemplary concentration manage to leave the football field victoriously.”
Quiroz noted that the Iranian National Team missed a number of scoring opportunities in the fist half of the game, adding, “Our players were not lucky during that half as they could have left the field victoriously even then.”
Elaborating on the reason why the Iranian players’ speed was low during the first half, The Portuguese Head Coach said, “The Indonesian players had blocked all the open spaces of the field during that half, which was why the Iranian footballers had to play patiently and with high toleration, and that had decreased the seed of the team during the first half.”
Quiroz argued that the substitutions during the 2nd half were not aimed at preserving the obtained result, reiterating, “By those substitutions we intended to preserve the situation of centering the ball over the competitor’s gate and at the half-back line of them, so as to score more goals.”
Pointing out that the Iranian team is in need of tough exercise in order to make its way to the World Cup, he added, “From right now we are thinking about our upcoming game against Qatar and its three away game points.”
Quiroz reiterated, “The player will have a light practice game on Saturday to prepare themselves for countering Qatar in Doha.”
The National Iranian Team’s Head Coach said, “A member of the teams’ technical coaches will tonight (on Friday night) watch the performance of Qatar and Bahrain so that Iran would be able to face its competitors fully aware of their statuses.”
Quiroz reiterated, “There is only one way to win in my mind, and that is attacking, and although the Qatar team has a number of foreign players, I am confident that my players are in a good shape and I also know they are determined to win.”
Iran beat the guest team three-nil to reach the third phase of its qualifier games with two consecutive wins and six points from two games.
Bahrain and Qatar are the other two teams in Group E. of Asia qualifier games; Iran will take on Qatar in Doha on Sept. 6 while Indonesia will host Bahrain in the same group.
