MNA - Germany’s Michael Henke joined Esteghlal football team on Saturday as an assistant coach on a two-year contract.

Henke, who has already worked as an assistant coach in Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Koln joined Esteghlal for an undisclosed fee.

“It’s the first time I want to work outside Germany. I am going to share my experience with Iran football and help the players develop (their abilities),” Henke said during a news conference in Esteghlal club on Saturday.

Former assistant of Ottmar Hitzfeld talked to Iranian media in a press conference.

"It is 30 years that I am in German football and I am very happy for coming Iran now. I know Iranian football players like Daei, Hashemian, Pashazadeh and Mahdavikia. I became familiar with Iran football from 2005-2006. From that time I have some studies about Iran." Henke said in press conference.

"I hope to have successful season with Esteghlal. I am here to repeat some achievements that I have gained with many other teams. " he added.

"When I was in Bayern Munich, I asked Ali Daei about Iran and its culture. After I received serious offers from Iran, I consult some friends that were in Iran. It was interesting that all of them said good things about Iran." Henke said.

"My adviser had some negotiations with Persepolis team but it didn’t get to a result.I had no financial problem with Persepolis. Before that I had some talks with Mr. Fathollahzadeh (Esteghlal chairman) and at last I decided to join Esteghlal.   

"I had some offers from European teams but it was interesting to work in Iran. I ask you to be patient a little. We need time to reach our goals in Esteghlal." Henke noted.

"It is very important that players can perform team tactics. I like playing style of some players such as Ribery and Mahdavikia. I like players which are speedy and effective.We should have lively players in trainings." Henke said.  

After press conference, Henke attended in esteghlal trainings and had a meeting with team head coach Parviz Mazloumi.
