PTV - Iran has finished runner-up in the 2011 annual World Schools Football Championship (ISF) hosted by Fortaleza, Brazil after displaying a stunning performance throughout the competition.

The 22nd edition of the championship saw an unlucky Iranian side conceding a narrow 3-4 defeat against Germany in the final on Monday.

Iran had eased past Bulgarian students, coached by legendary Hristo Stoichkov, with a 3-0 victory in the quarterfinal. Iranian students went on to defeat Turkey in penalty kicks in the semis to reach the final.

The World Schools Football Championship is held every two years and each country is allowed to enter one boy's and one girl's team.

All players on the team must be in the same school during the regular school year.

Iranian students managed to win the 2005 title of the World Schools Football Championship in Denmark, beating defending champions Turkey in the final.
