MNA - Former Iran striker Ali Daei was chosen as Iran’s best player over the past two decades, according to polls taken by an Iranian television station on Monday night.

Daei finished in first place, winning 45 percent of the votes in the six-candidate race. The current Persepolis coach was followed by veteran midfielder Karim Bagheri (21 percent) and retired keeper Ahmad-Reza Abedzadeh (16 percent).

Schalke 04 midfielder Ali Karimi finished in fourth place with nine percent of the votes, followed by retired striker Khodadad Azizi (6 percent) and Steel Azin midfielder Mehdi Mahdavikia (3 percent).
