MNA - Former Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz said he is thinking about taking charge of the Iran football team.

Queiroz, who watched Iran’s 1-0 victory over Russia in Abu Dhabi, UAE on Wednesday from the stadium’s VIP box, has travelled to Portugal and is expected to respond the Iranian officials’ offer within the next few days.

“I saw the Iranian players and I have to say I like them and I like the formation of the team,” Queiroz said.

"Iran federation invited me to Tehran to negotiate about taking charge of the team. They made the offer public. I cannot say anything more," Portugal news agency quoted Queiroz as saying.

Abbas Torabian, head of foreign relations office of Iranian Football Federation said the former Real Madrid coach is content with the way Iran played against Russia in the recent friendly match.

“He applauded our players but said he needs time to make the decision,” Torabian said.
