MNA - Iran Football Federation (IFF) denied the reports that they plan to recruit Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola as the coach of Iran.

IFF is going to find a replacement for Afshin Ghotbi whose contract expires after the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
Director of foreign relations of IFF Abbas Torabian said, “I was invited to Barcelona club but we had no negotiations with their coach.”
 
“I talked to Mr. Sandro Rosell president of Barcelona about a friendly match with Catalonia football team,” Torabian added.
 
Mustafa Denizli is among the candidates to take charge of the Iranian football team, according to the Iran's media.
 
Swede Sven-Göran Eriksson, Brazilian Zico and Argentine legend Diego Maradona have previously been among the candidates for the post.
 
Coach Ghotbi joined Japanese Shimizu S-Pulse after Iran’s elimination from the Asian Cup.
