MNA - Veteran Ali Karimi has been given the green light from Afshin Ghotbi to come back to Iran’s national football team.

Karimi was left out of the team due to his objections about Iran holding a training camp in Austria in August.

Ghotbi has included Karimi’s name among the 50-player initial list for taking part in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

“I am ready to return to Iran football team to help them out at the Asian Cup. However, I believe that Iran has many other talented players who could put up a good performance in the event,” Ali Karimi said.

“I myself would rather not participate at the Asian Cup since there are so many good young players; nonetheless, if the coach wants me I am ready to return to the team,” he added.

Iran has been drawn along with defending champion Iraq, DPR Korea and the UAE at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
