MNA - Sepahan of Isfahan thrashed Persepolis in Iran Professional League (IPL) football tournament here on Monday.

Sepahan beat the Tehran-based team 4-1 at the Azadi Stadium. Brazilian Tiago put Persepolis in the lead in the 32nd minute, but former Persepolis striker Ibrahima Toure canceled out his goal 10 minutes later.

Sepahan defender Hadi Aghili converted a penalty kick into a goal in the 66th minute. Khosro Heydari scored Sepahan’s third goal in the 73rd minute, and Reza Enayati rubbed salt into Persepolis’ wounds with four minutes remaining.
 
Elsewhere, Zob Ahan defeated Naft of Tehran to reclaim the top spot of the IPL rankings. A brace from Mohammad Hosseini in the 49th and 73rd minutes sent the team from Isfahan to the top of the table.
