MNA - Iran is scheduled to face Oman in its opening game of the AFC U-16 Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Sunday.

Defending champion Iran will play Oman in Group B at the Jar Stadium.
The 14th edition of the competition will take place from October 24 to November 7, 2010 in Uzbekistan.
 
Iran won the title for the first time in the last edition in 2008 by beating South Korea 2-1 in the final match. Koreans, however, have failed to qualify this time.
 
The top two teams in each of the four groups will qualify for the quarter-finals.
 
The four semi-finalists will represent Asia at the FIFA U-17 World Cup next year.
