Iran’s request is coming on the heels the one sent by Japan for a game in Tokyo on the same date.
“We have opened discussions with Japan for a friendly in Tokyo on November 17 and just today (Thursday) we received another proposal from Iran through an agent to also play them on that day,” Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) head of competition, Mohammed Sanusi, told MTNFootball
“We hope to soon finalise on which of these teams we will play.”
The match date is a FIFA friendly day and officials had hitherto been confident they will take on Bafana Bafana on that date before the South Africans opted to play the USA.
Japan trounced Nigeria 3-0 in their last clash seven years ago.
Both teams have met four times at full international level with Nigeria winning one and drawing one.
The Eagles are yet to clash with Iran at this level.
