Iran beat Iraq 2-1 on Friday and booked a berth in the final game of the event which will be played on Sunday. The Persians will play Kuwait who advanced to the final after beating Yemen in penalty shoot-out.
Iran has won the WAFF title in 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2008.
“Kuwait has taken part in the West Asian Championship with a young team. Defeating the team will not be easy for us. We will not underestimate them,” Ghotbi said.
Talking about Iraq, he added, “Our main match against Iraq is in the group stage of the AFC 2011 Asian Cup. Iraq had a good performance against us in the West Asian Championship. They will participate in the Asian Cup as the defending champion,” he added.
Iran has been drawn along with Iraq, North Korea and the UAE in the Asian Cup.
