The 33-year-old Iran international has been in Germany for more than a decade, enjoying two spells with Bochum, as well as featuring for Hamburg, Bayern Munich and Hannover 96.
However, he is now on the lookout for a new club, having told Bochum's official website: "I have always been happy at this club.
"The years spent with Bochum were the best in my Bundesliga career and I will always be a Bochum fan at heart. I wish the club and the fans all the best for the future."
Director of sport Thomas Ernst added: "Vahid has not only given the club a lot on the field, he is a polite gentleman with good manners.
"Since he always gave everything in every game, he rightly became a fans' favourite. We thank Vahid for his five years with Bochum and wish him all the best for his future."
