MNA - Persepolis could not keep its title hopes alive after being held by Traktorsazi of Tabriz on Friday.

In the match which took place at the packed Yadegar-e Imam Stadium in Tabriz in front of more than 70,000 spectators, Persepolis was held to a 1-1 draw in an away game.
Persepolis’ Jalal Akbari made a blunder and Farhad Kheirkhah, the former Persepolis striker, opened the empty goal in the 38th minute.
 
Persepolis was dominant in the second half and eventually equalized the match in the 56th minute. Hadi Norouzi received a good pass from Mohsen Khalili and sent the ball over Traktorsazi keeper’s hands into the goal.
 
Persepolis continued to put Traktorsazi under pressure afterwards but all to no avail.
The Tehran-based team Persepolis is third with 51 points in the Iran Professional League standings table.
 
Sepahan leads the table with 59 points and one game in hand with three weeks remaining.
