Ali Kafashian revealed IFF vice president Mehdi Taj had travelled to Istanbul to negotiate with the former Turkey coach.
“Terim was one of our favorites, but not at the moment,” Kafashian stated.
“We negotiated with him to know his ideas about our national team. Of course, we will not talk to him again,” Kafashian said during a live TV program.
“Ghotbi is under contract with IFF until the end of the AFC Asian Cup 2011. There is a clause that enables us to end his contract, but in any case we have to pay remuneration,” IFF president added.
It is said that Philippe Troussier, the former Morocco coach, is another candidate that may take charge of the Iran Football Team.
