Thailand need a win to secure a place at next year’s tournament but if coach Bryan Robson is hoping that Team Melli may not be totally focused then the former England star may be in for a shock.
Ghotbi intends to make full use of a rare chance to gather all his players, both domestic and overseas-based, for a competitive match.
“Our players are very motivated to improve by each match and look forward to a very competitive game against Thailand,” Ghotbi told Goal.com.
Spanish-based stars Javad Nekounam and Masoud Shojaei will make the trip home as Iran, who will not go to the 2010 World Cup, plan for the Asian competition.
“All international games are important," added Ghotbi.
"With the Asian Cup less than a year away, every FIFA date gives us an opportunity to gather our best players from around the world and continue our team building process.
"We are getting closer to our final selection, and we just need time to mature into an Asian Cup Champion."
