Sepahan’s 14 weeks unbeaten run ended with a 1-0 defeat against Zob Ahan at the Fooladshahr Stadium.
Seyed Mohammad Hosseini scored the game’s sole goal in the 70th minute. Zob Ahan clawed its way back into the title race with the victory.
“I congratulate my players on a good performance against Zob Ahan. They created five good opportunities after conceding a goal but didn’t take advantage of them. We are six points ahead of Zob Ahan in the IPL standings table with an excellent goal difference,” Sepahan coach Amir Ghalenoei said in a post match news conference.
Sepahan is six points clear at the top of the IPL table. Zob Ahan is second with 49 points. Esteghlal of Tehran moved up to third with 43 points.
