The Persepolis striker scored after 15 minutes following a pass from Hadi Norouzi into the box.
It was Ali Daei’s first win since he is in charge of Persepolis. In the past two weeks the Tehran-based team was held to a 1-1 draw against Zob Ahan and was badly beaten by Shahin of Bushehr 4-1.
“Persepolis played well in the first half, but we were under pressure after the interval. Persepolis would have scored more than one, however our strikers didn’t take advantage of their chances,” Daei said in the post-match news conference.
Persepolis moved up to third place of the Iran Professional League (IPL) standings table with 37 points.
IPL pacesetter Sepahan of Isfahan beat Malavan 2-0 and moved three points clear at the top of the table with one game in hand.
Zob Ahan is second with 45 points. The Isfahani team defeated Esteghlal of Ahvaz 2-1.
