MNA - Persepolis football team has been chosen as Iran’s most popular team, according to polls taken by a widely viewed Iranian television program, Navad (Ninety), on Monday night.

Persepolis won 51 percent of the votes in the six-candidate race. Esteghlal finished in the second place scoring 33 percent. Traktor Sazi of Tabriz came third with 11 percent in the opinion poll.

Sepahan of Isfahan, Shahin of Bushehr and “other teams” gained three, one and one percent respectively.
 
More than 2,500,000 viewers took part in the poll.
 
Persepolis is fifth in the Iran Professional League (IPL) standings table with 34 points. Esteghlal is fourth on goal difference. Traktor Sazi sits sixth with 33 points in the IPL table. Sepahan, Iran’s fourth popular team, is first in the domestic league with 45 points, and Shahin is 13th with 26 points.
