In a match played at the Shahid Beheshti Stadium in Bushehr, Shahin deservedly beat the Tehran-based team 4-1 to prove itself as a giant-killer.
Mohammad Nasser Shakroun gave Shahin the lead after Persepolis keeper Misaq Memarzadeh’s blunder in the 19th minute.
Mehdi Kiani doubled the scoreboard, sending the ball over Memarzadeh’s hands in the 35th minute.
Ali Daei’s team not only could not pull a goal back, but also conceded a third goal in the 67th minute. Mohammad Ahmadpouri’s header poured cold water on Persepolis’ hopes.
Memarzadeh made a big mistake again in the 69th minute and failed to catch an easy ball and Hamidreza Soleymani opened the empty net.
Hawar Mulla Mohammed scored a consolation goal for Persepolis in the added time.
Persepolis moved down to fifth place of the IPL standing table with 34 points and Shahin moved up to 13th with 26 points.
