PARAGUAY SQUAD JETS OFF TO IRAN

Sportal - The Paraguayan national team set off for Iran on Friday ahead of a friendly tournament involving the hosts national team, South Africa and Morocco.

Coach Uruguayan Anibal Ruiz has named a 19-strong squad for the tournament although non of the Europe-based players will be involved.

Guarani forward Pablo Gimenez, originally due to be involved, was forced to withdraw after getting injured in Thursday night's 2-1 win over Sport Colombia.

Ricardo Tavarelli (Olimpia) and Derlis Gomez (Luqueno); Nestor Isasi (Olimpia), Julio Cesar Caceres (Olimpia), Walter Fretes (Cerro Porteno), Dario Veron (12 de Octubre), Nelson Zelaya (Olimpia) and Paulo Da Silva (Libertad); Richart Martinez (Luqueno), Estanislao Struway (Libertad), Diosnel Burgos (Luqueno), Jorge Britez (Libertad), Oscar Sanabria (SanLorenzo), Pedro Irala (Sport Colombia) and Walter Avalos (12 de Octubre); Aristides Masi (Luqueno), Freddy Bareiro (12 de Octubre), Julio Ortellado (Deportivo Recoleta) and David Gomez (Guarani).
