“The Brazilian outfit accompanied with the President of the Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF), Aecio de Borba Vasconcelos, is scheduled to arrive in Iran on September 20,” ILNA quoted the president of Iran's Futsal Committee, Abbas Torabian, as saying on Sunday.
“They will leave the Iranian capital after holding three friendly matches on three consecutive days September 21, 22 and 23,” he added.
According to Torabian, the first and third matches will be held against the Iranian national futsal team while the second friendly will be held against the Iranian youth team.
“The interesting thing is that Brazil will attend the matches with all their top foreign-based players who play in Spain, Russia and Portugal,” he explained.
The three friendly matches will be held at the capital's 12,000-seater Azadi complex.
Iran, coached by Hossein Shams, has played in five editions of FIFA Futsal World Championships reaching the semifinals in their first appearance in 1992.They also reached the finals of 2009 Grand Prix de Futsal known as Futsal Mini-World Cup in Brazil.
Brazil currently leads the Futsal National Teams World Ranking while Iran has recently dropped two steps back to the sixth place after it lost 7-1 to the Brazilians at the 2009 Grand Prix de Futsal final at the Newton de Faria Stadium.
Iran, the nine time champions in Asian Futsal Championship, finished as the runner-up in the 2008 Grand Prix de Futsal after it was defeated by the hosts Brazil.
