Currently on trial with the German outfit, the 28-year-old has the chance to become the second Team Melli star to play for Freiburg after Fereydoon Zandi (2000>2002).
Aghili made a name for himself with his defending acumen in Sepahan’s run to the AFC Champions League Final in 2007 when they came up short against Japan’s Urawa Reds.
The stopper has been one of the lynchpins of the Esfahan-based side, appearing in more than 100 games since joining Sepahan from Saipa in 2004. He started his career with Tehran greats Piroozi (Persepolis) in 2000.
Sepahan finished fourth in the league this season and Zob Ahan’s runner-up finish and cup victory has ensured a place for them in next year’s AFC Champions League.
