Nekounam was one of the stand-out stars as Osasuna’s topsy-turvy season ultimately ended in final day glory when they defeated Real Madrid 2-1 to save their top-flight status by the skin of their teeth.
His performances alerted a number of other Spanish clubs, who are currently keeping tabs on his progress.
However, the Iranian international was clear in his desire to remain at the club next season.
“I have much respect for both Villarreal and Espanyol, but I am very happy at this club and I have a good relationship with the fans," he told Marca.
“To be honest, I have no intention of leaving Osasuna.”
Nekounam has a €5m release clause in his contract, a figure which Villarreal, in particular, appear ready to pay.
The player, whilst ruling out a move for the time being, said he is likely to ‘hear some better deals’ in the future, suggesting that he may consider a move from Osasuna at a later date.
