MNA - FIFA fined Iran Football Federation on Friday over a
missile-throwing incident during the Iran-Saudi Arabia match in the
2010 World Cup qualifiers.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee fined the Iranian Football Federation 12,000 Swiss Francs ($11,179) for the behavior of some of their supporters on March 28 at the Azadi Stadium.
Some Iranian fans threw missiles at Saudi Arabian players when they were celebrating scoring the game winning goal against Iran.
Saudi Arabia beat Iran 2-1 in front of 100,000 Iranian spectators in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Iran is fourth in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in Group Two with six points. South Korea tops the pool with 11 points from five games, followed by its northern neighbor with 10 points from six games, with Saudi Arabia in third, also with 10 points from six games.
