Esteghlal lies fourth with two points in Group C of ACL where Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia and Umm-Salal from Qatar stand first and second with eight and seven points respectively.
Esteghlal is scheduled to play Al-Ittihad on Tuesday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Speaking at a news conference, Ghalenoei said, “Esteghlal still has a chance to advance to the next round. We will play a decisive match against Saudi Arabia’s representative and do our best to win the match.”
“There is doubt about some of our key players taking part in the game but the medical staff is trying to get them in shape and I hope that they play in the vital match. We are champions of the Iran Professional League and people want more from us,” he added.
Esteghlal will go against Al-Ittihad without any pressure, Ghalenoei concluded.
