PTV - No external pressure has been behind the prompt dismissal of Iran's national soccer coach Ali Daei, says a senior Majlis lawmaker.

"According to the statements of Iran's Football Federation officials, no external pressure prompted the dismissal of Ali Daei", said Head of Physical Education Committee of Iran's Majlis, Jalal Yahyazadeh on Sunday.

Iran's Football Federation (IFF) sacked country's national soccer coach Ali Daei on March 28 after the national team's defeat against Saudi Arabia in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

According to Yahyazadeh members of the cultural Committee of Majlis and a number of other lawmakers held a meeting with IFF officials to learn more about the issue.

"The board of directors of Iran's Football Federation held a meeting upon the national soccer team's defeat against Saudi Arabia and decided to give Ali Daei the sack," Yahyazadeh added.

Yahyazadeh's remarks run counter to the reports of some foreign media which propagated the involvement of some hidden hands behind Daei's dismissal.

Meanwhile some unnamed sources said that Daei got the sack in response to the people's demands due to his negligence in fulfilling his duty, and the team's poor performance in the World Cup qualifiers.

Head of Physical Education Committee of Majlis reiterated that the next national soccer coach would definitely be an Iranian who is currently engaged in the country's football.

The new coach would be introduced within two days, he said.

Iran lost to Saudi Arabia last Saturday in Group B and dropped to the fourth place behind North Korea, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
