MNA - Iran football coach Ali Daei said that he is optimistic about reaching to the 2010 World Cup final round in spite of being held by South Korea in Tehran.

Speaking at the post match press conference, he said, “Both teams did well and showed a good performance. The Koreans took advantage of the rainy ground. Iran used two defensive midfielders in the match, otherwise the South Koreans could have earned more chances.”

Daei thanked Iranian fans attending the match in the rainy day, adding, “I hope that they will come to Azadi Stadium in our next matches.”

He stated, “I think the Australian referee had to show the South Korean penalty spot in the first half. They hit our post, but we could score in so many counter attacks. Our strikers squandered all of our chances.”

"South Korea has four European-based players. Iran was held by a great team. We still have a chance to advance to the final stage", former Iran striker concluded.

Iran is third with six points in Group B behind South and North Koreans with eight and seven points respectively.
