PFDC - TEHRAN, Team Melli's new adviser, German coach Erich Rutemoeller spoke to German daily newspaper 'Tagesspiegel ' about his new job in Iran.

The 62-year-old once more praised Iranian football: "The conditions there are better than you think. The league is highly professional. There often are 40.000 to 50.000 spectators in the stadium for top matches.

"The euphoria is huge, football clearly is the number one."

Rutemoeller, who described developing the long term training plans as his main task, also talked about the "phenomenal" hospitality in Iran, especially by the Iranian Football Federation officials.

"Once I arrived there in the middle of the night, about 2 or 3 am I got to the hotel. There indeed somebody from the federation was still waiting, just to hand me over the key.

"I told him he could have simply left it at the reception, but he said he desperately wanted to personally hand it over to me."

Rutemoeller further explained he was looking forward to the clash with Korea Republic in Tehran on February 11th, calling the game a "hit".

Asked if if the Iranian team had real stars, the German pointed out that there are several Iranian players in Europe and added that "with these players we could even make it past the first round at the World Cup, which would be the first time in Iran's history.

"That is my dream", Rutemoeller, who will fly to Tehran on January 3rd again, concluded.
