PTV - The coach of Tehran's popular team Persepolis, Afshin Qotbi, has resigned from his post and left the Iranian capital for Dubai.

Qotbi announced his resignation following a training session on Tuesday evening.

The coach revealed that he had stepped down because authorities at the club had failed to keep their promises.

"When I came back to Iran, Persepolis authorities made lots of promises to provide me with good conditions but most of these promises were not kept," Qotbi said.

"My resignation is the most painful decision I have ever made in my life," he added.

Qotbi wished success to the Reds saying, "I hope they are successful in the Premier league and the Asian competitions."

Defending champion Persepolis has performed poorly this season and currently sits in fourth place in the Iranian Premier League (IPL) with 22 points.

The title-holder has been defeated four times this season, loosing against Mes of Kerman, Abumoslem of Mashhad, Foulad of Khuzestan and Moghavemat Sepasi of Shiraz.
