IRNA -
Head of Futsal and Beach Football Committee of
Iranian Football Federation informed IRNA here Wednesday of Iran's official
bid for hosting 2010 Asian Futsal Championship Games.
Abbas Torabian added in an interview with IRNA Sports Desk, "The Asian
Football Confederation (AFC) had earlier this month sent a fax message to
the football federations of the entire member countries, asking them to
forward their requests for hosting the 2010 games, if they were competent
for doing so."
He added, "Therefore, keeping in mind that the head of the Iranian Football
Federation is agreed with the idea, Iran forwarded its official bid for
hosting the Asian Futsal Championship Games for the third time in Tehran."
Torabian said among the most important preconditions for volunteering to
host the games there is having three fully equipped stadiums (two main
stadiums and one reserve stadium), with seats for at least 2,000 spectators.
He added, "Iran has announced its readiness to host the games at the 12,000
seat Azadi Futsal Stadium and the 12,000 seat Dastgerdi Futsal Stadium as
the main venues for the games and the hall of the National Iranian Handball
Federation as the reserve hall." The head of the Futsal and Beach football
Committee concluded, "Hosting the 2010 games is of high importance for AFC
member countries, since the top four teams of those games would gain the
chance to attend the next Futsal World Cup."
Iran's National Futsal Team, the current Asian champion, failed to reach the
semifinals of this year's world cup after a 5-5 tie with Italy, due to one
score shortage on goal count of the former games. |
