Esteghlal held at home by Bargh

MNA - Esteghlal battled to a 1-1 draw against Bargh of Shiraz on Friday here at the Azadi Stadium.

In a match that had been postponed from the fifth week, Esteghlal drew against Bargh of Shiraz in front of 50,000 spectators.

Samad Zare’s own goal put Esteghlal ahead in the 17th minute, but one minute later Mehrdad Karimian equalized the match.

Esteghlal was the better team after the interval and took control of the match.

Referee Mahmoud Rafiee showed the penalty spot in the 87th minute when Esteghlal striker Farhad Majidi was brought down by Bargh’s keeper. But Yadollah Akbari could not take advantage of the penalty.

Esteghlal placed in the fifth, collecting 15 points and Bargh is third with 19 points, trailing Peykan and Zob Ahan.
