Camacho named as Osasuna's new coach

PTV - The Spanish Osasuna soccer club names former Spain coach Jose Antonio Camacho as its new manager after six matches into the season.

"Jose Antonio Camacho will replace Jose Angel Ziganda in the Osasuna dugout for the rest of the current season," read a statement on the club's official website on Monday.

An agreement between Camacho and the club 'had been made on Monday evening and Camacho would be the new coach until June 2009', according to the statement.

Earlier Ziganda was fired after getting four points with four draws and two defeats and putting Osasuna in 16th place among 20 teams in the Spanish professional soccer league, La Liga.

The new coach guided Spain to the quarterfinals at both the 2000 European Championship and the 2002 World Cup.

Camacho, a former Real Madrid player and coach, also had spells at Espanyol, Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla.

Osasuna's Iranian midfielders Javad Nekounam and Masoud Shojaei who have had a successful time so far in the Spanish outfit will experience a new challenge with Camacho.
