PTV - Iran will compete
against Bahrain in its opening fixture in Group A of the AFC under-16
Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The Iranian U-16 football squad will kick off against Bahrain at 6:30 pm
local time at Pakhtakor Stadium on Saturday.
Singapore will face hosts Uzbekistan, South Korea will clash with India and
Syria is to meet Indonesia on the same day.
The Iranian side is slated to play against Uzbekistan and Singapore on
Monday and Wednesday respectively.
16 teams from across Asia, divided into four Groups, are participating in
the Asian Football Confederation U-16 Championships from 4-18 October.
The top three teams in the Asian championship will advance to the U-16 world
competition, which was won by Saudi Arabia in 1989.
The AFC U-16 biennial Championship was established by the Asian Football
Confederation (AFC) in 1984 to provide another tier of competitive
international football for the development of young playing talent in Asia.
