PTV - Esteqlal has defeated
Rah Ahan 2-1 to move to the sixth place in Iran's Premier League ahead of
the Tehran derby against Persepolis.
Mojtaba Zare netted the first goal for Rah Ahan in the 29th minute, but
Pirouz Qorbani scored the equalizer for Esteqlal five minutes later.
Arash Borhani sealed the victory for Tehran's popular side in the 39th
minute, cheering up the nearly 50,000 spectators in the capital's Azadi
stadium.
The current win brings the number of Esteqlal's Premier League victories to
three, giving them the sixth position with 10 points out of seven matches.
Barq-e-Shiraz currently holds first place with 14 points from six matches,
while Peykan, Persepolis and Zob Ahan are second, third and fourth
respectively with the same number of points but a lower goal difference. Mes-e-Kerman
is fifth with 12 points.
The popular Tehran derby between Esteqlal and Persepolis will be held on
Friday.
