MNA - Persepolis football team
eased past with a 2-0 victory over Pegah of Gilan in the 8th week of Iran
Professional League (IPL) on Thursday here at the Azadi Stadium.
In front of about 100,000 spectators, Persepolis defeated plucky Pegah and
ascended to third place in the Iran’s pro table.
Captain Karim Bagheri gave Persepolis the lead in the 34th minute. His left
footed shot from outside of the penalty box went to the Pegah's far post.
Bagheri lost two penalty kicks in the 67 and 68 minutes. Referee Saeid
Mozaffarizadeh showed the penalty spot when Ebrahim Tore was brought down by
Pegah’s defender but Persepolis veteran failed to score. Referee ordered to
repeat it because Nazarmohammadi, Pegah keeper, jumped outside of the goal.
Bagheri hit the bar in his second attempt.
Ebrahim Tore’s header doubled the score in the 78th minute. Persepolis has
bagged 14 points and is placed in the third place.
